Perfect fit for my 19 subaru crosstrek. The fishing line comes in handy and a lift if available. Luckily I work in a shop that has one and is a etrailer installer. At precision Welding and trailer repair out of south sioux city nebraska. Highly recommend this hitch.
One year with this hitch and I have zero complaints. Installed it myself following the how-to video which was clear and straightforward. I’ve mainly used it for hauling bikes so no use with trailers yet but I feel confident in its ability to tow, and it’s held up without any issues. Purchased a new 2025 Crosstrek that replaced a 13 year old Impreza that I had been putting my Mt bike inside the car to transport. I didn't want to mess up the new interior so I opted for a hitch mounted bike rake.
I went with eTrailer as product is American made, their website had hundreds of reviews for Crosstrek installations. The reviews convinced me that the product would fit my car and that I could perform the installation by myself. The reviews ended up saving me time and money.
The hitch is extremely well made and very solid. The fit is perfect. Only the receiver is visible and its color matches the bumper, and it's perfectly level and flush with the bumper.
Most challenging part was opening the two holes to insert hardware. Needed only a small hydraulic jack to get the hitch in place. The fishwires make alignment simple and easy; couldn't do the install without them. Complete install took about an hour.
Very satisfied with etrailer and the hitch.

The etrailer hitch fits perfectly on my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness edition. The matte black finish matches well with the matte black cladding of the Wilderness edition. Very satisfied with the product and the service from Kyle at etrailer.

Works perfectly. No problems what so ever.
Installed within 30 minute easily on a 2025 crosstrek. Using a strap on the trunk latch, I was able to do it by myself. Holds a bike rack solid.
It does rest very close to muffler pipe, but didn’t touch.

This is a very well made hitch receiver, very solid and looks great on my 2023 Crosstrek! Installation is just as described in video provided. I bought a 1-1/8” step up drill that worked great to enlarge one hole in each side. As mentioned in other reviews this is a 2 person job and you need to have the car up on blocks.
I’m very impressed with the product and service of etrailer. I called them to ask some questions, they answered right away and were able to answer my questions.

Its been a year since I got this hitch, Ive had no problems with it. Works great!
I had it mounted by one of etrailer's recommended installers and they had no issues. The shop billed the job for 2 hours of shop time which I felt fair for the work needed including a lift. The vehicle being a Subaru Crosstrek will not be towing, but carrying bikes and kayaks. The Yakima Long arm Load Extender purchased here on etrailer. It was packaged in a heavy cardboard box that adequately kept mine from breaking out of the box. The UPS driver stated "he wished that these hitches were shipped in no box, wrapped in foam and tape". These are well built and heavy with a solid powder coat finish. Clearance fit was perfect with no need for cutting the car's bumper.
Trailer hitch fit perfectly on my Subaru Crosstrek. The only difficulty during installation was trying to thread the bolt into the hole. Procedure probably could not have been easier, but took several tries in the uncomfortable position under the car. I later had to meet with a friend at work to use his torque-wrench to fully tighten bolts. The correct torque was much higher than I expected. Hitch has performed well for the past year.

Nice hitch, fit perfectly, good instructions, easy to install, looks and works great. Have used to tow a utility and boat trailer and for a hitch haul and bile rack on our Subaru Crosstrek Would buy again!
This was definitely a 2 person job. It would have been very difficult to try to align the frame of the hitch to the frame of the car, support the weight, and thread the fish wires through without someone helping!
Drivers side drill out required pulling the exhaust off the hangers but that was so much easier than it sounds.
Used both square washers on the front bolts as the hitch frame overlapped ever so slightly with a seam with more depth of material on the car frame.
So far have only used it to transport bikes on a bike rack but it did that well, looks great, and best of all is tucked in and out of the way vertically and front to back. Great product!
This product has held up well. Use it for my 3-bike rack on my Subaru Crosstrek and it's had no issues. Install was relatively easy, I had a friend help me who had done this before on his vehicle. He had the correct tools such as torque wrench and knew the sequence quite well. I need to get a fun cap for the hitch though!
Installed on a 2024 Crosstrek and the fit is flawless. Super easy to install and has held up well.
Looks good and clean. I give a 4 only because I haven't towed anything with it yet. But with the online instruction and instructions included installation was easy

Looks fantastic on your '25 Subaru Crosstrek, Ruben! Now that you've installed it, any words of advice for anyone hoping to tackle this at home, too?
The etrailer video provided the guidance I needed and I was able to install the hitch. Rhino ramps were sufficient to raise the car and no parts had to be loosened or removed to make space for the install. Definitely helpful to have a second set of hands when putting the hitch in place, otherwise set up a bunch a blocks to lift where you can’t.

Received this hitch in 2 days. The matte finish should be good for hiding any scratches over time.
The installation seems straight forward without any alterations.

Yes, I transport bikes and it is always is stable and easy to use. I did lose 2 or 3 trailer hitch covers till I found one that stays in place thru car washes.
The washers provided for the forward mount was too thick and big around. I went to the hardware store and found the right size diameter and thickness to mount the hitch flush. The powder coating on the hitch seems very nice and looks great on the car.
Awesome trailer hitch! It wasn’t too hard to install, and the quality is superb. I’ve had it for a year now and have had zero issues with it. I bought this along with a 1UP bike rack to haul my bike around, the hitch is solid! It’s holding up very well!
This is the third hitch I've ordered through etrailer and again, it was a very positive experience. From selecting, shipping, communication and install, everything was first rate. The installation info was spot on. The installation difficulty was rated 4 out of 10 and that I feel, was very accurate. Also shocked at how tight the tolerance was on our Subaru.
Fit well, made well, easy installation, two things I would improve, retainer washers to hold bolts in place while fitting hitch and a better job deburring the parts, sharp edges.
Fits my vehicle perfectly. The installation videos on YouTube are detailed enough for novices. The receiver is flush with my bumper so no banged shins. I would recommend having a second pair of hands as this is a 2 person job. Also, if you have access to a lift, it will make the process much easier.
great hitch and not too hard to install. it tows a utility trailer to collect food for the hungry OR it carries my 12000 pound winch for off roading. It all makes for a great Subaru Wilderness that delivers the goods!
I installed this hitch that I bought from Etrailer, because Subaru wanted $800 to put one on my wife's new car. They told me it would hang down farther than their hitch and it wouldn't look right. But, I thought for about $650 less I could live with. Well, it looks great works perfect and took me about an hour or less to install. I'm pretty handy, but I think anyone can handle installing this.
First, I opened up the center frame hole to fish the wires, instead of using the forward mounting hole (as their videos show), so as not to weaken the forward mounting surfaces. I found the included hardware to be just a little lacking for a clean tight fit. I ordered a pack of 2" grade 8 carriage bolts on Amazon, and got two 9/16" flat washers from Ace, to make up for the recession around the forward mounting hole and compensate for the round hole spacers. I also used some leftover scrap gasket material to make two identical flat washers. I taped the gasket washer, flat washer, and round hole spacer onto the car frame, around the mounting bolt. (See Pics) It's a tight fit next to the exhaust hangers, so I'd recommend detaching the hangers from the car side of the anchors instead of the exhaust side. Also, the square hole spacers for the forward mounting holes weren't long enough to catch inside the frame so you'll definitely need an impact driver to snug the nuts up. The safety chain was welded slightly out of square. Even though I slightly diverted from the instructions, the install videos were very helpful. Customer service replied to my e-mail concerns in a timely manner, but didn't seem to understand what I was describing about the recessed forward mounting hole. My original order included a trailer wire tester, but they had to backorder it and thus held up my entire order for it. After a month of waiting, I canceled the tester and it was shipped the same day. Then I ordered a different tester on Amazon.
